A Sweeping Sign of the Times.
The times, they are a-changing: Univision is on pace to end the July sweeps in the numero uno spot, a milestone for the U.S. Hispanic network. Market leader expects to dominate July sweeps primetime among both Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34 demos, in broadcast or cable, meaning Univision is beating ABC, NBC, CBS and FOX. Univision’s July 2013 sweep is a 6% jump from July of the previous year among Adults 18-49 while ABC (-24%), Fox (-20%) and NBC (-12%) were down by double-digits.
Univision and ABC to target Hispanics with new channel.
Both organizations promised in a statement to provide "uncompromising coverage of current events with a unique perspective" with the around-the-clock, English-language television network and digital platform. Both will cater to the country's more than 50 million Hispanics with programming focused on news, lifestyle and culture. The television network will be staffed by journalists from ABC News and Univision News.
Cinco De Gallo Party.
Cinco de Mayo took on a new name this past weekend inside New York City's Le Poisson Rouge. Organized by cultural bloggers Mex and the City and Que Bajo?! DJs, Cinco De Gallo thumped with a plethora of sounds like electro-cumbia - and tasted of iced margaritas, tequila, and beer. And there was (of course) the swarm of people who savored the combination. Featured guests included Chingo Bling and DJ Sonora, who were visiting from Texas.
