Few things are more luxurious than an indoor rock-climbing wall. But even those lucky enough to have them, must contend with the hulking structures. No one has re-considered the design. That is, until it was transformed from the standard pebble-like holds into a wall art comprised of indented ripples. When not in use, it’s a backlit piece of sculpture. But when you’re ready for some bouldering, a clever UI idea kicks in: A companion iPhone app lights up a route according to your preferred difficulty and then rates your performance. Very cool.

What would news be like in a digital world without the legacy of newspapers or broadcast TV news shows? The industry had better find out, and fast, given Millenials (and, really, everyone else's) proclivity for getting their news through non-traditional channels.
